Writing for the last week has been slow; I don’t have too much motivation to write. Looking at the travel essay I really have not been feeling it but I love the way that Stephanie was trying to peak my interest and get me to make this a good paper. I have to admit that the first copy sucked and was put together really fast cause it needed to be done but for sure I will take more time on it and try to produce what is wanted for the paper. Otherwise with my other writing it’s really been put on hold lately cause I just got a job at good year and it takes most of my time. The rest of the time that I have goes to my girl so time has gotten tight lately but you don’t see me crying.

People who should Die

I was talking to one of my friends the other day and she told me a story that shocked, angered and saddened me. She told me the story of one of her ex boyfriends. Apparently he was a terrible person that was abusive; sick minded and belonged in hell. She had dated him back when she was in high school and he used to beat her to the point where she couldn’t were anything other than long sleeve shirts because her wrists were so bruised. These beating scared her mentally to the point where she will no longer feels comfortable for people to touch her neck or even have a collar on a shirt to touch it. She told me that she was forcefully engaged to him and he told her that if she ever left him he would kill her. She was afraid for her life to leave him because of these threats. I was told that he had even molested a Young teen girl during the time that they were together. Luckily she was able to break away from him and get a restraining order. As she was telling me about this I was horrified at what she told me and it made me want to cry because no one should ever have to live through these things that happened to her. I wondered as she told me “How could anyone stay with a person like this?” but I knew the answer the whole time, Fear. This story reminded me that fear is a strong emotion that can make you do the opposite of what you know is right. No one should ever have to live in fear or ever be treated in such a way. I was also told that this fucker had gotten away with everything he did even the molestation. Apparently he never did any real hard time. Anybody that decides to treat another person in any alike way should be dead. No question. This makes me lose faith in the justice system if this piece of shit is still roaming the streets. This fucker needs to be put to a painful torturous death. Its things like this that hell exists for.

writing progression

As I reflect on my recent writings I feel that I have improved on the feeling that I put into it and all the thought that I have been using. Recently I have been able to understand and feel the words and music of Nine Inch Nails’ Pretty Hate Machine. Because of this I am looking at these techno stylized metal songs and giving them a flavor with non computer generated instruments (though some parts were originally recorded with real instruments). I focus on the emotion that is presented in the lyrics with the way that they are spoken and try to emphasize the parts that I feel need emotion from me. On the song Sanctified I use my bass guitar only focusing on the vibe that it presents vs. the guitar and try to compensate with my vocals the best I can. Most of the lines in this song are repetitive so I try to ad a difference where it can be used to break the consistency. I really try to focus on the emotion and vibe placed in the song for the presentation to project what I feel on those who listen to it. I also was writing lines for a new poem that focused on my occasional spontaneous depression that lasts only a few days or so. I focused on exactly what I was feeling and turned these feeling into words. I tried to use some figurative language in my descriptions of feelings to show how I felt. I’m fine now but I thought capturing this dark piece of my life may produce a good set of lyrics or something to build off of so I could write my own material and be able to project it as I was doing with the Nine Inch Nails songs that I was playing.

Cash for Clunkers: American stimulus?

The recent government program that is known as cash for clunkers issued for economic stimulus has left me with one question: are we really benefiting ourselves as was portrayed by the program. Looking at the list of most popular vehicles purchased through this program on a wisdom journal blog answers my question real quick and the answer is no. 8 out of the top ten vehicles purchased in the cash for clunkers program were foreign made cars and every single car in the top ten for trade ins were American cars. How are we to stimulate our own economy when we are buying cars from foreign manufactures? It is true that many of these foreign cars were manufactured in U.S. plants but more money would go to the American economy if an American car was bought instead of the foreign car. I never heard that any of the American foreign car company plants were shutting down production or completely closing. The program should have been written to for only the purchase of an American made car you could get this rebate. This clearly would have stimulated our economy even more than it apparently did if it was executed properly. It is things like this that make me question what the government is doing to help get us out of debt. Even though it sounds like a good idea it clearly was not and besides all of this; if we the people are having problems with money our selves, why are we buying new cars anyway? Have we forgotten about the all the payments other than the down payment? Cars are expensive and if you take care of your so called clunker properly and take action to try and make your driving in general more fuel efficient it’s a lot better and a hell of a lot cheaper in the long run.

Look Back on Writting 2

Since the last time I did a blog concerning this topic I believe that my writing has improved mainly through techniques used to present the writing and get the writing. The free writing thing that we did was a great way to get what was going through our head at the time on paper so we can see it and review or refine it into something that we can use. I found one good way to write is to listen to music and rewrite the lyrics that you hear into something of your own. This at least for me produced some interesting words and concepts that I may have not thought of before without the music. This is also great because it gets you closer to the song in the sense that you are taking its words and putting a form giving it another life. Words may not match up to the actual song but its fresh work with a little inspiration ringing in the background. Another thing that we learned during class that I found to be beneficial was when we were learning about using the senses to describe what we talking about. This is great because it really does give you a sense of being there and the experience. Most of all it gives the writing more of a complete feeling to it and that makes the writing feel just as it should. I personally suggest using these techniques for others writing it may just be the difference between something and nothing

Controversial Movies

Many movies are timeless throughout the ages but some movies are highly talked about and start controversy. Most of the controversy comes from a scene’s content or the assumed meaning of the scene being distasteful in some manner. The problem that I see with this is that people are forgetting what most movies are; Not Real (even though many fictional movies are based in reality). Other movies are depictions of actual events that really occurred at some point in time in the past and are still ridiculed for the truth (or the filmmaker’s depiction of the event). I believe that many people lash out at what they find to be unsuitable before they watch some of these movies and see them as art or as a depiction of the topic. One of my favorite films A Clockwork Orange directed by Stanly Kubrick is one of the many films that has been ridiculed for content even as a book when it is just a fictional story. Some of the scenes that have been labeled as controversial and/or vulgar to the point that when this film was released in 1971 it was rated X. Probably the most notorious scene in the film that sparked controversy was the scene when Alex and his droogs brake in to an old man’s house and rape his young wife while Alex is singing “Singing in the Rain” and assaulting the old man while he if forced to watch his wife being raped. The content in this and other scenes are in no way acceptable behavior but none the less are a part of the story. These scenes are hard to see on film but the point of it all was totally missed by those who criticized this film. Disregarding the negative views on this film, it has won critics best picture and director awards and 4 Oscar nominations including best film. This film could have only gotten these awards by being viewed as it should have been: as a piece of art (that is vulgar due to the nature of the subject). No art should ever be censored or banned.

Look Back on Writing

When looking back on the writing that I have done since the beginning of this class and all things written recently not for anyone else but myself my personal opinion on my writing is that it isn’t that great. I always tend to get crippling blows of writers block on my personal work and trouble expressing myself the way that I want to on both usually. Although the work for this class has come to me fairly easily so far but we’ll just have to see on future assignments. My outside writing consists of mostly poems and stories written in a song format about my life, past experiences and that sort of thing. When I write these pieces I will sit for hours trying to say what I want to but never can do it in one sitting. Later on I will read through them and remember what I was trying to say and try to write at least one more line for any one of the pieces if not anything else. For these out of school pieces they are written for nobody to read, just my own chronicle of work so I can say whatever I like. I always use a pen and a notebook because pen is permanent and it is so impersonal to write the things I do on the computer. Stuff on word documents look no different than any other word document because all the text is perfect, all the lines are straight, all the spelling is perfect, and there is no personality in it. The only thing it does have is the writer’s form of writing and words otherwise no difference. There is a reason for the way I write my pieces and how I write them as well.

Texting on cell phones is one of the hottest forms of communication for young and older people alike. There is one big problem with this quick and easy form of communication; texting while driving. This has been an issue since it became a common main stream thing especially among teenagers. Statistics according to edgarsnyder.com say that 21% of fatal car crashes involving teens are a result of texing while driving. Texting is just like any distraction but is even more dangerous than many other distractions due to the fact that it takes at least one hand off the wheel and the eyes of the driver to be taken off the road. I believe that texting while driving should be banded in all states and those who continue to do it and cause an accident should be have a harsher punishment for the offence. I personally have been involved in an accident that was caused by someone who was texting while driving. Because of it I lost my vintage ‘80 Mustang that I had recently put a new engine and now have 6 individual scars on my arm because of it. If texting while driving is banned the total number of accidents should decrease and save lives. In addition to this I think that it would help if driving in general was taken more seriously than just transportation but moving a huge piece of metal at high speeds that can take yours or someone else’s life in the blink of an eye.
